Eccentric Art Music

You will find here music that defies convention, music that is purely art.

Cloud Shrouded Dawn

(Original = Flute, English Horn, Bassoon and 2 Cellos)

This piece is intended to convey an almost spiritual experience of a foggy dawn in a nature preserve atop a small mountain.

Musically, this is composed to be similar to a very old style common pre-1600, so it doesn't abide by the modern conventional rules of music, and has a few unusual features. Most notable, are the uncommon cadences, the interwoven lead melody, and surprise ending.

Painting Grandeur

(Original = Flute, Violin, Viola, Cello)

The idea behind this composition: Stepping into a Victorian era oil painting of a park-like scene on a river bank with a quaint country church in the background. It looks like the kind of day where the sun is quite warm but the breeze is cool and refreshing. The music is what I imagined would compliment/perfect the scene rather than describe it.

Birth of the Rebirth

(Original = Oboe, Flute, Alto Viol, Tenor Viol, Bass Viol)

The subject of this piece is a transition as a blooming forth. Here old folk type early music transitions to a more refined classical music.
